Flippin
The Flippin' Chi SOLO
The Flippin' Chi-SOLO is a float that flips so that it profiles nose forward whether ascending or descending. Sensors to measure microstructure, that require clean flow, are put on the nose. The antenna is on the tail, and is flipped up for communication at the surface.
The integration of two technologies
The Flippin' Chi SOLO is a collaboration between IDG and the Ocean Mixing Group at Oregon State University to integrate the SOLO profiling float and the Chi-pod microstructure sensor.
